Short Description
Spend a full day in the shoes of a real shepherd in the Sicani Mountains, taking part in the morning milking, a tasting in the sheepfold, and an outdoor picnic lunch immersed in nature.
Full Description
A total and authentic immersion into the rhythms and gestures of Sicilian pastoral life. The experience begins in the morning directly on the field, where you will work alongside the shepherds in the first activities of the day. The core moment of the morning will be the manual milking of the Girgentana goats: a unique opportunity to rediscover an ancient practice and connect directly with the animals. Immediately after, inside the sheepfold, you will take a first refreshing break to enjoy a rustic tasting featuring freshly made cheeses, estate olives, and other genuine local specialties.
You will follow the herd during grazing among the hills of the Sicani Mountains, discovering the secrets of the wild herbs that make the milk of this protected species so unique. At lunchtime, the activity features an outdoor picnic surrounded by pristine nature, to enjoy a packed meal filled with traditional products of the hinterland and get some relaxation in the open air; the return to the farm is scheduled for around 04:00 PM.
Note: this activity takes place almost entirely outdoors and is strictly subject to weather conditions; in the event of rain or severe weather, the experience will be canceled or postponed for the safety of participants.
