Short Description
A cooking class to learn how to dough traditional Sicilian pizza using ancient grains and prepare the artisanal liquor that symbols Sicily, limoncello.
Full Description
You will be welcomed into a farmhouse surrounded by fruit trees, olive groves, vineyards, and a seasonal vegetable garden. You will begin with a tour of the property, during which you will hear stories and traditions tied to the local farming life.
Hands in the dough, you will start from scratch by working with ancient Sicilian grain flours, water, and sourdough to shape the "Cuddiruna," the traditional local pizza created in the past as a hearty and convenient meal for field workers. While the dough rises, you will start preparing limoncello following an ancient family recipe, using freshly picked organic lemons.
You will then move on to topping your pizza using products from the garden and the local area. The experience concludes at the table to enjoy the pizza while it is still hot, accompanied by local wine, water, seasonal fruit, and a dessert. Each participant will receive a 100 ml bottle of the limoncello prepared together as a souvenir of the day.
