Short Description
A guided hike along the trails of the Monte Cammarata Reserve and Contrada Quisquina to the summit of Pizzo della Rondine, crossing dense woods and unique landscapes.
Full Description
A wild itinerary in the beating heart of the Sicani Mountains, led by an experienced local hiking guide. The loop trail extends for about 7 km with an elevation gain of approximately 350 meters, connecting the wooded area of the Quisquina to the majestic carbonate ridge of Pizzo della Rondine (1,240 meters above sea level). Walking under a dense canopy of oaks, holm oaks, maples, and majestic pines, your guide will reveal the rich biodiversity of this nature reserve, home to numerous bird species, including raptors nesting on the rocky cliffs.
The route touches fascinating geological formations, sinkholes, and former mountain pasture areas, where Sicily's geological history is displayed in the open air. Once you reach the spectacular rocky ridge of Pizzo della Rondine, a boundless panorama will open up before your eyes, stretching from the peaks of the Sicani to the Madonie Mountains and, on the clearest days, as far as Mount Etna and the sea. Due to the nature of the terrain, which is rocky and clayey in some sections, and the slope of the trails, the hike requires a moderate habit of walking in the mountains and the mandatory use of appropriate footwear.
NOTE: This activity is strictly subject to weather conditions; in the event of rain, strong winds, or thick fog, the trek will be canceled or postponed to ensure the utmost safety of participants.
