Sambuca di Sicilia, Mazara del Vallo and Castelvetrano

Discovering Western Sicily, walking among the Arab courtyards of Sambuca, the labyrinth of the Mazara kasbah, and the monumental squares of Castelvetrano.

On this tour, you will visit three nerve centers of Western Sicily to understand their history and architecture. You will begin in Sambuca di Sicilia, a center of Islamic origin, you will walk through the Arab quarter of the Seven Courtyards and discover the Mother Church damaged by the 1968 earthquake. Here, you will make a stop to learn about and taste "Minni di Virgini", a pastry linked to the history of the local monastery. Upon request, you will have the option to include a visit and tasting at the Planeta Winery.

You will continue to Mazara del Vallo, where you will walk inside the Kasbah, the old historic center that preserves the Arab street layout, observing the coexistence of Islamic architecture and Baroque churches, while delving into the history of red prawn fishing and couscous.

The tour concludes in Castelvetrano, visiting the monumental squares of the center, noble palaces, and Baroque churches, where you will taste the typical black bread made from local grain and Belice Valley olive oil. A journey to discover the intersection of Arab, Norman, and Baroque cultures on the island.
