Full Description
On this tour, you will visit Burgio, a small municipality in the Agrigento hinterland that boasts a very long history linked to artistic craftsmanship. You will walk through the historic center, characterized by stone houses and narrow medieval streets, and you will explore the workshops where traditional Burgio ceramics are produced, recognizable by the historic use of copper green and antimony yellow since the 16th century.
You will enter the Virgadamo Foundry, the last artisanal bell foundry still active in Sicily, founded in the 1500s, where you can observe the tools and bronze-casting processes handed down from generation to generation. A must-see destination that allows you to see up close historic crafts that have disappeared elsewhere, gaining a deep understanding of the rural and artisan economy of the Sicilian hinterland.
