Selinunte Archaeological Park

You will explore the largest archaeological area in Europe, walking among the majestic Doric temples of the Greek acropolis overlooking the Mediterranean.

This tour allows you to visit the Archaeological Park of Selinunte, the ancient Greek colony founded in the 7th century BC by colonists from Megara Hyblaea. You will walk among the monumental remains of the eastern hill, home to one of the best examples of Doric architecture on the island. You will then visit the Acropolis, situated on a plateau overlooking the sea and surrounded by still-visible fortification walls. You will discover the history of the conflicts with neighboring Segesta and with Carthage that led to the city's demise.

Upon request, you will have the opportunity to discover the secrets of local production by visiting an ancient Greek latomia (the stone quarry from which blocks for the temples were extracted) where you will enjoy a tasting of Nocellara del Belice olive oil and typical Castelvetrano black bread.
