Short Description
Retrace the feudal history of Siculiana through the lanes of its fortified town and the walls of the 14th-century Chiaramonte Castle, with the option to extend your visit to the white marl cliff of Scala dei Turchi.
Full Description
A guided itinerary through the historic center of Siculiana, a town established during medieval times atop a pre-existing Arab settlement, preserving the urban structure typical of fortified coastal villages.
The walk leads up to the Chiaramonte Castle, built in the 14th century by the powerful Chiaramonte noble family, which overlooks the entire town from a rocky outcrop. Within the fortress, you will learn about the feudal history of Sicily and the strategic relevance of this site, which served as the setting for political marriages and military alliances.
Upon request, you can extend the tour toward the nearby coastline to reach the famous white marl cliff of Scala dei Turchi in the territory of Realmonte. An ideal stop to observe the geological formation of this white rock wall rising sheer above the sea and discover its history linked to Saracen pirate raids along the coast.
