Basic Ceramics Workshop

A practical demonstration with a master artist to discover the stages of Sciacca ceramics, with the chance to shape a small clay element assisted by the artisan.

The activity offers a direct approach to the craft of ceramics, exploring shapes, colors, and materials through a path designed for both adults and children in the heart of Sciacca. The experience begins with a complete introduction to all the stages of the production cycle, from the initial manipulation of the clay to the final firing and decoration. Next, the master will hold a practical modeling demonstration, showing how to shape a rose starting from a simple piece of clay. In the second part of the workshop, you will try your hand directly at the process: assisted step by step, you can model your own creation. To ensure the necessary space, the activity takes place outdoors, right in front of the shop entrance; it accommodates from 1 to 15 participants and, for small groups, the hands-on manipulation practice will be managed in turns (maximum of two people at a time). The raw clay piece you create will be given to you as a gift.

1. Introduction to ceramic arts: A comprehensive overview of every stage in the pottery process, from raw clay modeling to firing and final decoration.

2. Live master artisan demonstration: A hands-on display showing how a simple block of clay is shaped into an artistic creation (such as a rose).

3. Guided hands-on workshop: Step-by-step practical session where you craft your own piece (in turns of maximum 2 people at a time for small groups).

4. Take-home creation: Keep the raw clay piece you sculpted during the workshop as a complimentary souvenir.
