Short Description
During the first two weeks of September, you can experience the traditional feast of Saint Joseph, featuring the preparation of the typical vegetable soup and freshly made almond brittle.
Full Description
You will be welcomed into a typical countryside house to experience one of the most deeply felt feasts of the area. The activity takes place outdoors, where a classic votive altar is decorated according to local customs for the occasion.
We will cook the minestra di San Giuseppe together, a rich, ancient dish made by combining many different types of legumes, fresh seasonal vegetables, and various pasta shapes. While the soup cooks, you will discover the history and traditions behind this feast, which in this area is exceptionally celebrated at the end of summer to welcome back relatives and fellow locals returning home.
The evening continues with a live cooking show dedicated to cubaita, the traditional Sicilian almond brittle. You will watch firsthand how the sugar and nuts are worked together and taste the sweet while it is still warm. The experience concludes at the table, dining together with the freshly made soup, paired with local wine, water, and fresh fruit.
